Since 1889, the Market Street Mission has been serving our community by meeting immediate needs like food and shelter and addressing long-term struggles like addiction and homelessness. Located at 9 Market Street in Morristown, we offer the following services free of charge:
Emergency Shelter
Overnight shelter for men opens at 5:00 PM at the Market Street Mission, 9 Market Street, Morristown, NJ. Please call (973) 538-0431 for shelter availability.
Daily Meal Service
Breakfast & dinner meals are FREE and open to the public at the Market Street Mission, 9 Market Street, Morristown, NJ.
Breakfast: Monday – Saturday @ 6:15 AM, Sunday @ 7:00 AM
Dinner: Monday – Saturday @ 5:30 PM, Sunday @ 4:30 PM
Lunch: Available at Nourish.NJ, 36 Sussex Avenue, Morristown, NJ
Food Distribution
Food boxes are available for anyone in need and are handed out on Tuesdays & Thursdays from 1:00-3:00 PM at the Market Street Mission, 9 Market Street, Morristown, NJ. Boxes include items like canned goods, box milk, cereal, rice, beans, peanut butter, jelly, cookies, and crackers, as well as frozen items. (Items are subject to availability)
Personal Hygiene
Our showers at 9 Market Street, Morristown, NJ are open to the public during specific hours every day.
Men: 9:00-11:00 AM
Women: 1:00-3:00 PM
Counseling
The Market Street Mission promotes a whole-person approach to counseling, guiding our clients toward emotional, relational, spiritual and physical well-being. We are committed to seeing clients develop the tools they need to heal, grow and thrive. Our Beacon on Bank Street Counseling Center at 10 Bank St, Morristown, NJ serves Market Street Mission clients as well as individuals and families in the community in need of guidance & treatment. Addiction Recovery
Recognized by Newsweek Magazine as one of America’s Best Addiction Treatment Centers – 2023, the residential Life Change addiction recovery program at the Market Street Mission, 9 Market Street, Morristown, NJ is a free program for men struggling with addiction. Addiction and substance abuse problems do not discriminate by age, race or social background. We aim to provide an addiction recovery plan that will guide men in making a “Life Change” by giving them the tools to pursue long term sobriety. Our curriculum includes 12-step work, individual & group counseling, academic achievement and job training.
Sober Houses
At the Market Street Mission, we believe that community, accountability and time are crucial factors in pursuing recovery. We offer graduates of our Life Change Program the opportunity to apply for housing in one of our sober houses, which keeps them within reach of resources for ongoing recovery.
Chapel Services and Recovery Meetings
The Mission holds daily chapel services and periodic recovery meetings throughout the week at 9 Market Street, Morristown, NJ. Community guests are welcome to attend.
