As the Market Street Mission – Jersey Shore, we’ll continue to offer the same services to Asbury Park… thanks to your support!
The Jersey Shore Rescue Mission first started as an outreach of the Market Street Mission in Morristown, which has been serving the community with meals, shelter and hope since 1889.
Since opening our doors in Asbury Park in 2007… we’ve been offering weary neighbors in the Shore community full access to the experienced & compassionate care that the Market Street Mission is known for.
We are as committed to this work as ever! When you see our new logo and read the “Market Street Mission” on future updates, please be confident that we are the same organization you know and trust.
We’re still right here, excited to continue serving our neighbors in need with your partnership and shared love for our community!

When the Market Street Mission in Morristown launched the Jersey Shore Rescue Mission (JSRM) in 2007, the board at Market Street wanted to localize this new Mission to make the most impact in the Shore community, and so gave it its own Jersey Shore brand identity. Despite its distinct name, JSRM has always been part of the Market Street family, using Market Street leadership and staff as well as Market Street methods (meals, shelter, and addiction recovery) to see lives changed both in the short-term and long-term. Market Street Mission and Jersey Shore Rescue Mission are under the same tax-exempt status and report to the same Executive Director and board. As the Lord allows Market Street Mission to grow with additional sites, it makes sense to do so as good stewards of our resources. Presenting as one unified Mission will help us to be better stewards of our donors’ gifts. Additionally, for the sake of familiarity and trust, our goal is to consistently identify all sites as part of the Market Street Mission family for the benefit of our overnight guests, clients, and community relationships. For this reason, all our locations will share the Market Street Mission name and logo.
Our services and care will remain exactly the same! Our staff will continue to provide meals, shelter, clothing and addiction recovery to our neighbors in need, just as we always have. Our thrift store will continue to faithfully serve the community, offering great bargains on clothing, furniture, and other essentials as well. The only changes are to our name and logo to better reflect the Mission’s identity as a cohesive Market Street Mission whole, which you will see reflected in our communications moving forward.
The Market Street Mission is an experienced organization with a proven method of helping to fight alcoholism, drug abuse, hunger and homelessness in New Jersey. In 1889, the Market Street Mission opened its doors to serve the community in Morristown. Since then, the Mission has been caring for those in need through meals, shelter, clothing and addiction recovery services.
Our mission is to surround our neighbors struggling with homelessness, hunger and addiction with God’s love and everything they need to get back on their feet – food and shelter, counseling and job training, spiritual guidance and Bible study – to live stable, productive lives in our community. Our vision is to empower hurting people to rebuild their lives through the power of Jesus Christ. With His love guiding them, and with a strong community of believers surrounding them, we believe they will claim victory over their struggles.

Our “lifeboat of hope” is a wonderful image to represent the physical, emotional and spiritual care we offer our neighbors in need. While we have updated our logo to remain consistent with the Market Street ministry as a whole, the lifeboat will always be at the heart of what we do!
Look for our updated logo on all of our messages starting this fall!
